2025 Master Degree ProjectBailey Bridge Sustainable retrofit
This project reimagines the WWII Bailey Bridge on the River Thames in Oxford through a sustainable refurbishment. By reducing the bridge's width and reusing the removed steel, a new façade with integrated solar panels is created to generate electricity for the nearby Fiddler's Island boat park. Inspired by the Osney Lock Hydro in Oxford, the design celebrates adaptive reuse and renewable energy, turning the bridge into a public learning point for sustainable design, construction, and technology along the River Thames path.
